Saturday in NYC

On Saturday 24th, Courtney, Kelsey, and I took a bus trip to New York City! We chose do-as-you-please kind of trip, so we got to do what ever we wanted. Because we went there just three of us, I had to get approval from AFS, scan, and send papers between USA and Finland. The bus left early in the morning from Lancaster, departing around 10.30am in NYC.

The bus dropped us off behind the Winter Garden Theater in Times Square. First we decided to walk to the Central Park. We were a little worried about the weather, it was supposed to rain but luckily it didn't, and we got to walk around.

From the Central Park we continued to the Fifth Avenue, and visited the FAO Schwarz store where they had the Big Piano. It's basically famous because of the Tom Hank's movie Big.

One happy girl after getting a new bag from Guess!

We went down on the Fifth Avenue, shortly stopping at some of the stores. In Banana Republic they had a collection with a Finnish company Marimekko! I saw a lot of Finnish women buying the clothes :D The prices of the stuff they were selling were a lot less than normal Marimekko clothing in Finland.

We had to do this :D

Then we visited the Rockefeller Plaza! It was packed with American flags since it was the Memorial Day on Monday. They had prepared well for it! We went in to the NBC store, and look through the windows where they film the Today Show. They had left the script from the show to the window :D It said something about Kanye's and Kim's wedding on that day.

From the Fifth Avenue we went to the Grand Central terminal. Finally I got to go there! I was so looking forward to go there, it is absolutely a wonderful place. I like the architecture and the style of it so much. Downstairs of the terminal they have a food market. I had read a lot of good stuff about the Magnolia Bakery, so we had a little snack break there!

When we were walking down the Park Avenue we saw this Scandinavian place, where they had a little store and a restaurant. They were selling things from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. I didn't buy anything though, the prices of the products were of course higher. But it was a nice to see that place, and talk with a Japanese woman about Finland and the Moomins!

We walked to the Empire State Building, without going in it though. We didn't want to spend more than an hour in the line to get up to see the view. We went shopping in Victoria's Secret and Macy's  instead :D

By the time we got back to the Times Square it started to rain a little so it was a perfect time to go have a dinner. We had to wait almost 45minutes to have a dinner in the Hard Rock Cafe, but we spent that time wandering around the closest stores.

After the dinner it was almost the time to head back to the bus. We had a little time left so we visited the M&M store. And what would be a NYC trip without Starbucks :D Then it was time to leave back home. What a great trip to NYC again! I'm so happy that I've had a chance visit so many different places there. It's such a nice city, and I can't wait to go back there again!
