Finally I have time to write something here! Last week was pretty weird for me, on Monday I had pinkeye so I had to go to see a doctor and struggle with all the insurance things. Then on Tuesday the schools were cancelled because it was too cold outside :D It was kind of funny. Then the rest of the week was normal with school, we also had our first musical meeting on Thursday!
On Saturday our local AFS volunteer came to pick me up to the Farm Show in Harrisburg! I shared a ride with Faysal, Martha and Simal, and later on Rachele, Ruben and German joined us at the show. I really don't know how to explain this farm show thing, I think they have it every year and people bring their best animals to compete who has the best one. There was a lot of different kind of animals, maybe it was a good way for the kids who lives in the city to get to know all of the farm things. There was also an big exhibition area, where a bunch of people were selling their stuff (this was the part that I enjoyed the most, since I love shopping).
And what would be an American happening without a lot of food? The milkshakes were the must thing to try, and yes, they were good.
Haha this gave me a little laugh, there was a company selling these super healthy saunas and saying that you can burn more than 400 calories in 30 minutes :D The size of the sauna was like a small closet or wardrobe, and it wasn't even as hot as I've used saunas to be!
We also went in to like a butterfly tent, where they had so many different kind of butterflies! I got great pictures from there, it was forth of going :)
Martha, German, Ruben and Rachele!
In the evening we went to see the rodeo show! It was sold out and the atmosphere was really good. That was my first time at the rodeo, and even though it was really nice it still doesn't win hockey :D At the beginning of the show they of course sang the national anthem, but then they also had a little prayer. To be honest it was a little strange for us, because everybody always says that America is the country of the freedom, and they have the freedom of the religion and then there is a prayer at the public show. I just think that there is a little conflict between these two things, how about the people who doesn't have religious believes? Just saying, of course this is a culture difference and I respect it.
Haha it was so funny to watch these guys, there were so many of them just standing at the arena and doing nothing, when maybe four of them were actually doing something :D
One good experience and memory more to add in to my journal!
