This week was finally the time for the first real American holiday, Thanksgiving! On Monday and Tuesday we had early dismissals in school, only three hours of school in both days. I went christmas shopping with Natalie and Marissa on Monday and I found almost all presents for my family in Finland. On Tuesday I went to lunch with my liaisons. It was really nice to finally meet them and talk with them! It also snowed a little on Tuesday and Wednesday!
I wanted to make something Finnish food for my host family, so on Thanksgiving day I made these dry rye "buttons" with cream cheese and red onion filling. I put cold smoked salmon or smoked ham rolls on the top and finished with chives. These turned out really good and everybody liked them! Success :)
My host father's parents joined us to the Thanksgiving dinner. As everybody knows, on Thanksgiving is all about eating and being thankful of something. We had so many different yummy main dishes and desserts, pecan and apple pie. Everybody was home so it was so nice to chill and watch football with the whole family. I am so thankful for my American host family for taking me to their home and making me happy everyday. I'm also thankful for my family in Finland, who gave me this opportunity and made it true.
My wonderful host family!
And then some Black Friday shoppings! We decided to sleep well and not to go to the mall at midnight. We went to the mall around 9am and these are the only two things that I got, a perfume from Victoria's Secret and sweatshirt from H&M. Some of the stores had really good offers and sales but I didn't really need stuff. Actually I got a couple more christmas presents, but I won't tell them here!
These two aren't really Black Friday shoppings but shoppings anyways. I had to get these character shoes for the Holiday Concert, so I picked them up on Saturday when we went to Lancaster downtown and Central Market. The Hunter boots were really a super good find, I got them 75 euros cheaper than what they cost in Finland!
Now after Thanksgiving is gone it's time to start thinking about Christmas! Only three weeks until holidays, yaaay! I finished packing all the Christmas presents for people in Finland and I'm going to send them on Monday. We also decorated our house for the Christmas already, I'll take pictures and share them here later on next week.
(Sorry about the bad quality in some pictures, it's because I was lazy and used iPad to take those.)
nice, very cute boots :)
