This week was all about halloween! Sunday we went to pick up pumpkins from the farm. This is really a thing that we don't do in Finland. People knows that it's halloween time but they don't do any parades, trick or treating or pumpkin carving. So this was totally a new American experience! We picked up four beautiful pumpkins, 3 for carving and one for food preparation.
I had no idea how I would like to carve my pumpkin, so I looked up ideas on google and I found this cute cat thing! My host sisters have done this before so they were masters with carving. Even tough we didn't used the pumpkin parts to eat, we seasoned the pumpkin seeds and roasted them in oven.
Monday was the day of the Lititz Halloween Parade! We live just a few blocks away from the Main Street, so the parade came to our street also! It was super nice just stand in front of our house and watch the parade. The parade was longer what I excepted and a lot of people came to watch it to our street. The best groups in the parade was of course my school's groups, the marching band and Grease musical. Couple of my friend are in National Art Honor Society and they were dressed up like zombies. Just one second after the last photo they attacked me! :D
And then on Thursday was the halloween day! I was surprised how many people actually dressed up to school, that would never happen in my school in Finland (or then people would think you are crazy.) Mandi and I first passed out candy to kids who came to trick or treating us.
We had this "We've been booed!" sign on our door! This neighborhood had this nice thing, that someone "booed" another neighbor. They left a little basket to our door, which had halloween stuff and candy inside of it.
After passing out candy we went to trick or treating too! I tried to be like a zombie and Mandi was cute cat with leopard stuff. Now I've got candy at least for two months haha!
